My physical appearance has never been as controversial as it is now that I live in the USA. I have been living here for almost three years and I still get the same amazed faces when Americans hear me talking in Spanish. Honestly, I don't mind at all, and I don't feel insulted or anything. All the opposite, I love when this happen because it gives me an excuse to say the name of my country: URUGUAY (because most of them don't even know that it exists.) I get it. I mean, being born in the United States is very different than being born in Uruguay, for example. The United States is an inmense country, and I feel that every single state is even considered a different country, because when you ask an American where is he/she from, they say their own state, instead of their country. You realize how powerful the United States is when the entire world knows EVERYTHING about it, and they don't know anything about us. We grew up with their music, TV Shows, movies, products, language and technology, and they barely know that our country is in the map haha. (Of course I am saying all this with humor. Don't take it personally because I LOVE Americans and living here.)
I have always been very small, petite, skinny and tiny (that's where the name Atom Ant comes from.) I mean, I'm 4´11ft tall, or 1,50cm for those like me who understand "cm" better that "ft." One day I was even told by a friend that I'm oficially considered a midget. Yes! what a special comment and fun fact to tell a friend right? haha. But I don't care at all. I love that friend and there's nothing I enjoy more than laughing about myself. My point is: I know I'm not the stereotypical girl.
Sometimes I see 13 year old girls in the streets here and they have more boobs, bigger asses and more "women" type bodies than this 20 year old midget. I don't complain though. I am happy with the way I look and with who I am, but its just very interesting to see this -and I even have my own theory about why this happens. Sometimes even random people come up to me just to ask me how old I am... I have to admit that this bothers me a little bit, because its coming from someone I don't even know, so why that person even cares, but I had found a good answer to that question already: I'm twelve.
